Kaufman County Commissioner Skeet Phillips
Meet Skeet

Service has always come first.

Skeet Phillips is a native Texan, Vietnam veteran, successful small-business owner and longtime Kaufman County commissioner. His life and public service have been shaped by hard work, personal responsibility and a belief that your word should mean something.

Those values have guided Skeet throughout his service as commissioner for Precinct 2. He approaches county government the same way he approached business and military service: understand the job, work with the people around you and finish what you started.

The Principles Behind the Work

Keep your word. Protect taxpayers. Get the job done.

01

Service

Skeet's commitment to service began long before elected office and continues through his work for Precinct 2.

02

Accountability

Skeet believes taxpayers deserve officials who make commitments carefully and follow through on them.

03

Results

Roads, public safety, infrastructure and responsible budgeting remain at the center of Skeet's work.

From Service to Public Office

Experience built over a lifetime.

Skeet's experience has taken him from military service in Vietnam to building and operating a successful small business and ultimately to county government.

Each chapter reinforced the same lessons: budgets matter, equipment must be maintained, people depend on you to do your job and problems rarely solve themselves.

Those lessons became especially important as Kaufman County began experiencing extraordinary growth. Precinct 2 needed roads, public safety facilities, county services and infrastructure capable of serving a rapidly expanding population.

Serving a Growing County

Kaufman County has changed. The job has grown with it.

Skeet's tenure has coincided with tremendous growth throughout Kaufman County. New neighborhoods, businesses and families have increased the demand for roads, public safety, county facilities and basic services.

Skeet has worked with fellow county officials, municipalities, school districts and state agencies to address those needs while remaining mindful of the taxpayers who fund county government.

That work has included transportation projects, new public safety facilities, modernization of county departments and improvements designed to make county government more effective and responsive.

“
Promises Made. Promises Kept.

Public service is about doing what you said you would do.

Skeet has built his record around that principle. His focus remains on the responsibilities county government must handle well every day: roads, public safety, infrastructure, fiscal responsibility and accessible service.
